Batman fakes his death while saving Gotham from Bane & Talia's plan and is later (after Bruce Wayne's funeral) seen by Alfred in Florence with Selina Kyle. He wills his mansion to the orphanage where police officer John "Robin" Blake grew up. He leaves all his Batmanning stuff to Blake and installs a new Bat signal for Commissioner Gordon to use (presumably to summon Robin/the new Batman.
