I would like to have a show like this just once without a romantic vibe where I expect it to be forced - and not from the start. I'm watching for Eric McCormack and Levar Burton, mainly. I mean, bring on the good females too, but can we keep them in their own plotty roles and NOT as romantic targets?

I've been debating about watching this show; the idea of a main character with a recognized, professionally diagnosed mental condition is interesting (actually, is that true? I'm assuming he's been actually diagnosed, as opposed to it just being speculation or self-diagnoses?). Granted, this secret gives me pause, cuz... yeah, I agree with veronica_rich. Still, what do people think of it? I guess it's new enough it's hard to tell (and easy for me to catch up to), but I'm still curious.

E.T.A.: TNT is rerunning the first two episodes ("Pilot" and "Faces") along with the third episode ("86'd") Monday afternoon (July 30th). So if, like me, you wanna catch up, there's still a chance to do so. (-:

THIS. No, seriously, so much this. They're great as crime fighting friends, and they can even be best friends, but the concept of them trying to make a romantic relationship between them work? Is terrifying. I don't think either of them could handle it, even kind of.

I really hope they don't go for the romantic angle with them. It's much nicer to have a show where men and women can work together without UST being pushed into it. That's (one of the reasons) why I liked Monk.

It's not looking good. Two episodes in and Eric's already being made to give the Sadface of Longing to the woman when she's on a date with another man. Sigh.

I don't really like it so far, and that's one reason. Doubt I'll keep watching it, tbh.

Mostly I'm just facepalming at yet ANOTHER Sherlock-inspired-quirky-brilliant-detective-with-a-straight-(wo)man-sidekick show. Good Lord. There are like a billion of those already, even not counting Elementary. I love Eric McCormack, but...

I love the show so far but do NOT want them to get together, it's too easy. Surprise me, ya know?

The only thing that creeps me out is that Rachel Leigh Cook looks the fucking exact same as she did when she did She's All That! WTF. Is she part of Keanu's vampire clan or what?

I didn't realize this show was titled Perception until I went to IMDB to look it up... every time I read this secret it read as "Reception" to me, and I was like, "WTF is this show about?!"

Also... from the blurb, it seems very similar to the Mentalist?

I didn't think the age difference was too bad as to be distracting honestly. But that's just me. The show's pretty good I think (one of the better ones I've seen recently on TNT), but if the romance squicks you out I'd suggest to stay away because it looks like it's going to go down that path.
