But I'd definitely read the second one.

The thing about Nana to Kaoru is that they don't have (or haven't had) sex with each other, it's just all about the delicious UST for now. Do give it a try.

Well, the way they do it is surprisingly non-sexual and they're not in any kind of romantic relationship. The girl just uses it for 'breathers'. So that's one way. :)
This means there's no sex or nudity from the main characters and it's actually really sweet to read.

And yes, I definitely recommend the second one.

3 of my fav manga series! Just tell them to read them without giving any further details, I'm sure they'll be hooked.

I can see how explaining any of these might be a bit awkward...but ngl, your descriptions makes them seem pretty interesting. I haven't read manga in years, but uh...the S&M one especially sounds...good. Yeaaaa.

OMG, Onani Master Kurosawa is one of my favorite mangas EVER.

It's not about masturbation...it's about coming of age. Friendship. About the highs and lows of adolescence. And even though it sounds like fanservice and porn (and it's not! Seriously! Not at all!) it's just so good. EVERYONE needs to read it.

...now I have to look up the other two titles, because OP definitely has good taste XD

I know, right? And I try to explain that to everyone, but they just can't get past the masturbation.

oh god, punpun

although maybe he's better off without god, or at least that one (also, for us residents curious about this artist (inio asano), his solanin and it's a wonderful world have been licensed -- there's some similar themes and tones as punpun, but punpun kind of turns everything, especially the drama and surrealism, up to 11... yeah, it's definitely hard to describe!)

Haven't read Nana to Kaoru yet, but Punpun and OMK are pretty good. I wouldn't rank them among my favorites, but they're great reads.

I totally feel you on how hard it is. Especially with Oyasumi Punpun, since you'd expect int to be easier than the other two since it doesn't have the obvious S&M-ish stuff like Nana to Kaoru, or have "masturbation" right in the title like with Kurosawa.

but I also like Oretama and Aki Sora, which might be even harder to recommend, though...

Curious about how the two high school friends are into S&M but "not in that way". What way are they not into it? What way are they into it? I just....so confused.

I love Goodnight Punpun and I'm annoyed that some of that author's other comics have been localized here but not that one! Oh well

Ugh, Oyasumi PunPun is so excellent, but also so incredibly emotionally draining for me to read. Between the art and the writing and the characters, it leaves me in this sort of roiling, half-inspired, half-melancholic fugue if I read too much of it at once.

I'll trust in your tastes, OP, and tentatively add those other two titles to my to read list.

Onani Master Kurosawa is the manga that got me back into anime/manga after two years of staying away from it.

I'm gonna have to check those other ones out. :3

Oh man, I love Punpun and Kurosawa! I do understand the problems of trying to explain them; these are the kind that I feel a person should just try without any prior knowledge.

I've read the first one, but I wasn't really into it (too much mushy romance IDGAF about), but I'll definitely give the other two a try. They sound interesting.

I love Nana to Kaoru! But...it kinda is exactly that kind of relationship right? I mean yah know, he does get aroused and she does get some 'stress relief."

Does anyone know where I can get ahold of any of these? Are they being scan-lated?

Just wanted to say thank you for mentioning Onani Master Kurosawa. I kept hearing people praise it, but the trying the first chapter, it hadn't really interested me. Seeing your comment about forging ahead though, I gave it another try and finished it today (nice and short at 4 volumes). The fourth volume and epilogue (http://faildoor.wordpress.com/category/onani-master-kurosawa/) were definitely worth it! Thank you so much!

Now to take a look at Oyasumi Punpun, since I keep hearing about that too...

Oh man I love Punpun
If you want to try some similar manga (realistic art, cynical, dark humor) you should try 'I Am a Hero' by Hanazawa Kengo, or 'Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service' by Eiji Otsuka.

Dear OP, I know it's been awhile since you posted that secret, but do you have any other manga or anime you could recommend? Those three sound really good. :>
