I love her stuff, but Tori fans are fucking batshit.

I met a nice girl one day and went back to her place for a fuck. In her kitchen was a GIGANTIC FOAM TORI AMOS SIGN THAT TOOK UP ONE WALL. I was SOOOO scared. Anyhoo, although she was obsessed with Tori Amos and had some batshit friends, she turned out to be quite sane. 13 years later and we're still together. We do have Tori Amos on the wall staring at us but she got rid of the foam sign (nicked from a music store). The end.

I used to know a Tori Amos fan who was a sweet, sensible girl.

Why are you ashamed? Has she done something that I don't know of?

I know nothing about Tori Amos apart from the fact that she did a cover of "I Don't Like Mondays" that was played during one of my tv shows. Why are you ashamed?

Meh, anyone who judges you badly based on the fact that you listen to Tori Amos doesn't have an opinion worth paying any attention to. Music is like the single most YMMV thing out there. The point of music is to enjoy it, not to brag to your friends or try one-up and/or shame them with your tastes. Tell your friends to fuck off and download their own music if they don't like yours.

Seconding the question of has she done something that fans should be ashamed of? I mean, shit, I've loved her music for 20 years as of this summer, and I don't know how I would've gotten through my freshman year of college without Little Earthquakes. If she's turned out to be full of major fail, I haven't heard about it.

Ahahahahahhahaha. Me too! I discovered LE my freshman year of college and have been a huge fan ever since. I haven't really liked her new music much beginning with Strange Little Girls, but this latest album Night of Hunters is amazing, I think.

I can't think of anything that would lead you to be ashamed of liking her or her music. Enlighten us, perhaps?

I love Tori and admit it freely. Do you mean you're ashamed to associate with her fans? I could understand that, I've made a point to stay away from her fandom.

I'm seriously curious as to why you'd be ashamed over that.

I'm not sure I would be here if it weren't for Tori; I definitely wouldn't be the same. I haven't kept up with her very well in the past few years, but I still listen to her all the time. Like everyone else, I'm wondering: why are you ashamed?

All I can say is that I love Tori. I have ever since I snuck home Little Earthquakes when I was 15 and listened to Crucify, sure that I'd get my ass grounded for listening to something so... against how I was raised. It was liberating. And if it weren't for Tori, I wouldn't have made it through some of the rougher parts of my life in as good shape as I am now. (I know, lots of others have said it, but it's true)

I can sort of relate, though I'm not as into Tori as you are and our reasons are probably different. I'm a big Kate Bush fan, so I feel kind of embarrassed to be listening to an artist that a lot people say is a Kate rip-off, but I like her music for it's own merits, so I really shouldn't be. She's very talented and seems like a cool person, so I don't think you should have to feel shame at being her fan.

I like Bush as well but she and Amos are really two different people. I had the good luck to see Amos live, in a bar gig, non-smoking at the request of the artist, and she was a riveting soloist.

I haven't liked an album of hers since To Venus and Back. I still have a Tori Amos bumper sticker, tho. I have a superstition about removing bumper stickers leading to car accidents. It's stupid.

Guys, this is a weird question, but when Tori covered "Landslide" did the line "when you see my reflection in the snow covered hills" sound like "when you see my erection in the snow covered hills" to anyone else? Because I hear it and I can't stop hearing it and it's throwing me out of the song every. single. time.

I haven't really listened to her stuff since Scarlet's Walk. But she still have a decent (albeit smaller) fanbase.
