i kinda relate. i started randomly watching arashi's shows on youtube years ago, not really caring for their music nor their personal lives or shipping or w/e (though now i'm a huge fan lol). i also did this with v6 and k8 but idk anything about those groups really. i am also not attracted to any of these dudes but they make great television. nothing to be embarrassed about!

i watch arashi shows for the same reason, only i'm a bigger fan than you in regards to dramas and names and birthdays and whatnot. but oh god they make you laugh so hard, don't they? my irl friends make fun of me relentlessly but i honestly don't give a shit. i would not hesitate to tell anybody that these boys got me through some tough times, they made me happy. ♥ as long as they make you happy, you just carry on with whatever you're doing. you don't need to be a big fan, but if you ever wanna talk about them i'm sure the fans would welcome you warmly. OP here! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's felt like these guys have helped me out ~emotionally~ through their shows. Seriously, they make my day feel just a little bit better and they bring me laughter. Awesome username btw :')

Nothing to be ashamed about! Those shows are so entertaining. I used to be pretty into JE stuff. Was deeper into it than you, as I knew names and watched dramas and listened to music, but I was really in it for the shows. Especially the Arashi shows. They were hilarious, and I liked the group dynamic, and watching them just made me happy. When I moved to Japan, for some reason I immediately stopped caring about pretty much every Japanese fandom I'd been interested in, but while I was there, I still watched Arashi's shows any time I caught them on TV. They do take you to a happy, forget-about-your-problems place, and anything that does that for you is worth enjoying without embarrassment.

perfectly ok, anon. I'd never even heard of Arashi before I moved to Japan, but I caught some of their shows on TV and thought they were cute and funny and now I watch them whenever they're on. You don't have to be into the fandom or know everything about them to enjoy the chemistry and charm. That's why they're so popular :)

I love the variety shows for both of them - they're hilarious and awesome. I mean, various dramas the members do are good, too (and some of them are bad, not gonna lie), but the variety shows are usually incredibly entertaining. Big, big part of my life in Japan; my personal favorites were Gakkou E Ikou and Arashi no Shukudai-kun and I will happily chat about those or any other show either group did. Incessantly.

PS - Arashi and V6 totally had/have the best variety shows out of all the JE groups. Did you see the early run of VVV6? I could not stop laughing at Okada's giant takoyaki.

OP here, yes GeI! (and GeI! MAX) and AnS are my personal favorites as well. I also loved the early episodes of HnA (like the childminder and haunted house episodes) ♥

I agree. I've seen some shows by Kanjani8 and they're entertaining, but idk Arashi's and V6's shows own my heart. No. I've seen a few episodes of VVV6, but not much. It's so much harder to find subbed V6 shows than it is to find subbed Arashi shows. I'll have to look for it though :)

There are a couple of V6 LiveJournal comms that might have some of the earlier V6 stuff, although I'm not sure how much of it is subbed (not really an issue for me, so...). Take a look at victory6 and v6_unlimited, if you don't know them yet. :)

You ever see any of Aiba's appearances on Tensai Shimura Doubutsu-en? Some of those are utterly priceless. Like the kangaroos. Oh god, the kangaroos.

Yeah I've joined a few lj communities like v6_unlimited, v6yagers, and 1995_to_forever :) From the few episodes I've seen I love TSD. I've mostly seen the ones though where the other members of Arashi appear on it. Those ones were really funny. Especially the ones with Sho and Nino appearing with those female comedians. I've also been watching some of the older stuff like CxDxG no Arashi and Mago Mago Arashi, and have really been enjoying those.

Hey, would you mind listing places your finding Arashi shows subbed? I'd love to watch their variety stuff, but have no idea where to start looking for subbed episodes.

Sure. Here's a really good source for finding subbed episodes of a lot of their shows. For a lot of these you'll need to join lj communities, but some of them you don't need to. I'd highly recommend starting with Arashi no Shukudai-kun.

No shame in this, OP. I don't follow Arashi/JE groups at all, but my favorite female idol group (Momoiro Clover Z) was on Vs. Arashi recently and MAN is that an entertaining show.
