Re: I really miss my dog.
(Anonymous) 2012-07-25 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)I lost my dog last month, and even though I knew it would be rough, we knew it was only a matter of time, and I thought being prepared for it would make it a little bit easier. It didn't. I was absolutely inconsolable for two weeks, barely eating and barely sleeping, and I still cry over her--and I'm not a crier. Not a day has passed that I haven't thought about her. I miss her so, so much. And the worst part is, I promised I would try to be there with her when she died, but I wasn't. I was out at a doctor's appointment, and when I got back, she was gone.
I don't know what to tell you except to hang in there.
I read somewhere that when you get a pet, you make a deal with them--you keep them fed and watered and comfortable and happy, and they'll give you all the love they're capable of. You lived up to your end of the deal, and she knew that. Hold on to the knowledge that you made her life so much better than it could have been, and that you made her happy.
