The MST3K mantra does not apply to stories that want to be taken seriously.

Feel free to haul it out when someone starts nitpicking the worldbuilding of The Mighty Boosh.

But Korra--Korra wants to be taken seriously. Except that it is a mess, and judged by its own standards, it matters that it's a mess. You might not care about the ways in which it's a mess, but that doesn't mean it's not a mess. It just means you don't care.

Oh no, I agree with you-- to a point. Criticize away at all the things that could have been done better, but when things start getting too serious and too heated and too angry, then I think taking a step back and relaxing is a good idea.

In that case, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU that criticism that stops being about the thing and starts being about other people watching the thing is a terrible habit that I would love for fandom to break.
