And as for today's spider, let's go with an Aussie one!














Now, Australia's got a lot of different tyeps of spiders around. Today's is a spider from the Missulena family. They're not that big, and are normally all blue or black with bright red teeh. It does count as a fairly risky spider to be around, so I wouldn't hazard it if I were you. Here are some pictures of a few.

Taz was already my favourite Looney Toones character, and I alrady wanted to cuddle him, and those adorable, fuzzy little things are not helping! I *want* one now!

Hee! Possum nostrils are upside down! XD Never noticed that before (we don't seem to have them here in BC). Makes sense if they spend the majority of their time upside down, though; that way rain doesn't get up their noses!

Also, heh, possums. Just last night, I had to chase a big brushtail away from the cat food. It was literally waddling after gorging itself on high-protein cat food for ages XD Watching it squeeze itself under the fence was HILARIOUS.

...possums and opossums are different animals? I've always thought they were the same and the difference was regional or dialect or something!

Opossums are sometimes shortened to 'possums hence the confusion. Possums are indeed a different animal.
