Yeah, the parts of Titanic where Cameron got to indulge his Titanic-history-geekdom are all generally my favorites, whether it's the emotional stuff like that or the gorgeous scary spectacle of the ship sinking in REALISTICALLY RECREATED DETAIL.

That in particular is such a beautiful and moving story. I would have been so scared and I still think drowning in the ocean is one of the worst ways to die, but... I think that because they managed to stay together to the bitter end, and died knowing firsthand the devotion they felt towards each other, they ended up dying a good death. I kind of envy them.
