. . .I don't really see how these books are sexist. Ginny got to have her fun and when Ron insulted her for it it was treated like Ron was the bad person for insulting her for it, not Ginny for actually having fun.

I'm pretty sure Lavender and Ron did the nasty too (or at least did a lot of stuff) and she wasn't insulted for that, she was just sort of generally clingy like lots of sixteen year old teenage girls.

Harry Potter has female characters that I looked up to in my childhood for inspiration (like Luna and Hermione) who were prided on their hard work, originality, and compassion, and it makes me very confused when people claim that the series is infuriatingly sexist when JK Rowling has the capacity to and actually did write such dynamic, complex, and generally wonderful women.

People like to practice their pearl clutching, I guess. I acknowledge HP isn't actually perfect when it comes to feminist themes, but the amount of hate some people pour into it is honestly unnecessary, and a big part of it I think is people seeing what they want to see.
