Everyone has one of those friends. I've known mine for eighteen years. She makes not-so-little barfing sounds whenever I make the slightest suggestion of slashiness in something.

Because aside from that it's totally awesome. 99.9% of the time I'm not pointing out mancrushes, and 99.9% of the time she's not being visibly sickened by it or making some comment about how much yaoi fangirls suck. Seems like a silly thing to break a friendship over.

But her being "visibly sickened" by the idea of anything gay sounds homophobic to me, and homophobia is a perfectly valid thing to end a friendship over. At least to me.

Not liking yaoi != homophobic. For all you know this person's friends is gay or even an LGBT advocate. There are other reasons to dislike yaoi besides the gay.

OR

They could be a huge homophobe. The point is, we don't know.

It's more like her reaction to slash/fem-slash is the same knee-jerk reaction my Mom has to jello after spending a month in the hospital. "Oh god it's this stuff again. Haven't I had enough? No, I don't care if it's a different flavor. *gag gag*"
