Whenever I see Rosetta Stone commercials, I am reminded of how much I want to learn German.

I'm pretty sure it's not an easy language to learn but if you want to learn it, go for it :D

One thing that might make it harder is the lack of good German movies or TV shows ^^"

*butts in*

I've been wanting to learn German because I listen to a lot of German music. I took a beginning class and loved the language. I can't afford to take more classes right now but maybe in the future.

I might try to make it through the rest of the textbook on my own, but I'd probably drive my German-speaking friends up a wall asking them questions.

Oh, and to stay on topic, English is my native language. And I speak Spanish since I majored in it in college but my Spanish is pretty rusty now unfortunately.

Well if you want to you can ask me questions but I'm afraid I very much suck at my own language at least when it comes to explaining grammar and stuff (and don't even get me started on commas^^).

and all of our TV channels have stuff you can watch online but I'm not sure if it works overseas^^

Aw, that's all right, I honestly wasn't hinting around for people to help me!

That's funny about the commas. I used to have a German guy beta my fanfic, and that was one of the only things we ever disagreed on. His English was as good as mine but neither one of us was entirely sure what to do about commas.

I think there may be a way for me to watch some German TV from over here. At this point I wouldn't understand anything much, but I could give it a try.

(I've watched some interviews with musicians now and then, but usually I get frustrated after a bit since I'm so curious to know what they're saying... XD)

NAYRT, but I've taken a few years of German, and the relation between German and English seems to be that German explains the weird shit that English does sometimes. Also, gendered nouns ARE THE BEST.

GAH they're not. They're nifty when you've learnt them since you were little (Spanish has them too), they're sort of second nature, but when you need to relearn the gender of every. single. thing. it gets very frustrating very quickly.

Wow, someone (not German) who thinks that gendered nouns are the best?! How comes? (I'm really curious because the German grammar seems to be most hated by German language leaners)
Love it that German and English are related, made it so much easier to learn English. :)

nayrt

The declensions are usually the tricky bit for me. I can never remember which prepositions go with each case >__< And as soon as I think 'Yup, this is it, this can only go with Dativ! Go me for remembering it!' I check the grammar and it goes 'lol nope bitch, Akkusativ all the way!'

I would probably have a nervous breakdown if I had to remember all that and actually think about it instead of just doing it.

I'm hoping enough repetition will make it easier to remember as I keep on studying. I can only hope ;A; But the awesomeness of the language's worth the constant nervous breakdown >_< *enviously staring at people who can use declensions like the most natural thing in the world*
