Yay! Anon Meme! I’ve been wanting to talk about this for ages but it’s a lot of tl:dr:

Last year the Monster High facebook page did a special reveal to show two new upcoming dolls (Spectra and Abbey). They showed one of three parts of a photograph of a doll, starting from the feet up, every half hour for six hours. Despite the fact that it was obvious when a new part would be posted, the page was absolutely flooded with children demanding that they post the next pictures that second, whining incessantly (and with terrible spelling) and spamming the page and calling the Monster High people names. I didn’t see one post asking nicely or even including the word “please”. I vividly remember clicking on a video posted to the wall that was 20 seconds long and had like, a ten year old girl (who I noticed was alone in the room so I guess there was no one to slap the back of her entitled little head) saying “Put the pictures up NOW. NOW!” in this really firm voice like she was convinced her commands would followed.

The reason I bring all this up is that we’ve been talking about fandom wank for the past few days and I have to tell you, the wankers are getting younger and younger. It was the first time I’ve ever thought “I don’t want any more children in this fandom” – in a fandom for toys made for kids.

from what I hear, this extends to a specific section of the fandom :(

if I worked the facebook page and I wasn't afraid of the bad PR or whatever, I would like to figure out how to ban every child and send them a message along the lines of "you're grounded. please take two weeks to think about what you did".
