I can't STAND social justice warriors on LJ and tumblr. They've taken what was a good cause and perverted it so they're now a laughing stock. Sf-drama, I'm looking at you. You used to be a fun read, where we'd mock and snark at people who deserved it. Now you're dedicated to mocking straight white cis people (slightly hyperbolic, I know), and everyone needs to be handled with kid gloves and walked on eggshells around because they're so OMG DELICATE! But then you go and dogpile people, alerting communities about people that are in them who ~might start wank~, even if the person you're referring to apologized ages ago.

Hell, I'm afraid to comment anymore on SJ stuff because I'm a white, straight woman with mental disabilites, so I don't check enough members on their "Oppressed Checklist".

yeah. fighting for what you believe in = good. taking it to the levels of bullying = BAD. I'm white, female, straight, and cis, and it's getting really hard to be a supporter of LGBT rights and civil rights in general when the SJWs dogpile on me because ~YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND OUR PAIN GO AWAY~~~~.

Do none of these people understand that if you don't have help from other groups, no one will listen when you want your group to be protected from hate crimes? Read up on how the black civil rights movement gained supporters, and I guarantee the Black Panthers weren't the ones everyone flocked to.

Besides your shit attitude about thinking you are the most important and essential voice for anyone's cause (and that is how you come across regardless of your intent when you word it so shittily), you may as well fuck right off if you're expecting pats on the back just for being an ally, and a non-altruistic one at that.

Appealing to your group (whether that's being white, straight, whatever idgaf) by making you comfortable and safe in spaces, where any marginalised group is seeking that, is never the point or a goal of anything.

I became pretty disenchanted after reading someone's takedown of Brave. I don't think we watched the same movie, because... wtf person. What. the. fuck.

And by that person's definition, I've gone through the child abuse they were railing against, but I know if I say something I'll get shut down because CLEARLY I don't know what's what.

I've also seen someone say that another person wasn't non-white enough for her opinion to matter on something.

And I'm a non-white, queer woman (with some unexplored gender issues because I don't want someone saying I'm ~appropriating~ their identity by trying to figure out my weird approach to my own fucking gender lolyay), also with mental disabilities (and an apparent history of child abuse,) but I don't want to speak up either, because I'll get shut down just as hard if I dare to disagree with someone. It's just fucked up that, if you disagree with a SJW, even if you are a member of the group they are supposedly fighting for, you get shut down, accused of derailing, etc.

a friend of mine refused to explain why she didn't like scott pilgrim (the movie, she's never read the books) more than "douchey white guy gets the girl, learns nothing" (which is completely true of the movie incidentally) and then told me to read some review that explained it better than she could so i did.

it was fucking awful. i get that everyone's a douche in the movie but the review was so completely off-base it was almost kind of amazing to read.

My fandom has gotten to the point of counting the number of encounters between a popular/polarizing couple and which were initiated by one and which were initiated by the other and whether it was REALLY consensual or maybe just abusive and and *wank* *wank* *wank*.

STOP APPLYING REAL LIFE CONCERNS/PROBLEMS/CRIMES/LABELS to FICTIONAL CHARACTERS/SITUATIONS within a narrative, on a show or in a book, that's telling a story. It's a fucking story, either go with it or find something else to fan over.
