[ Anon Meme ]

F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

I've recently started playing Mirror's Edge (I know I'm a few years late, but damn, it's held up really well!)... and I love it, but it also makes me really sad.

Faith is so strong and agile and just all-around badass, and I'm so... not. I literally don't even know how to run (due to lifelong disability). And when I sit down to play, I usually end up doing so for a few hours straight, which aggravates the pain issues related to my disability, which makes me even less mobile...

There's a line in the comic where Faith says she lives for the moment at the height of a jump where gravity ceases to exist. And I'd give just about anything to know what that feels like.

tl;dr: anon is jealous of a fictional traceuse who probably doesn't even obey the laws of physics because fictional, and is a whiny bitch about it.

OH I get you anon. I'm so jealous of what Faith can do. I mean, I've got a fucked up leg so I am incredibly jealous.

Wish there were more games like it too :(

But for the height of the moment when gravity ceases? Sometimes you can get it for a fraction of a second on a trampoline.

Sometimes I consider skydiving would be so close to it, that moment you jump out the plane and go sideways...

i'm the same way with Buffy. i'm disabled and sometimes watching Buffy is depressing because of all she can do physically. It's exaggerated, of course, because she's the slayer... but still

How can you not know how to run?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you miss the part about them having a lifelong disability?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They didn't say they can't run, they said they didn't know how. You can know how to do things you can't do.

Not OP, but they said they have a lifelong disability. They're now an adult.

Walkiing is hard, running is harder. If they haven't got the time and money for someone to teach them? They're out of luck

- signed, an anon who had to be taught how to walk properly, how to jump and still cannot run

I'd imagine it's a lot like how you don't know what tact is.

I believe the theme park fandom calls that 'airtime' and your nearest ride/rollercoaster may allow you to experience it.
i certainly did on Th13teen, Nemesis, Oblivion and air.
