F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

How old are you?

Sleeping pills

Who takes them? Or anti-anxiety meds?

This is really just general curiosity. I take them every now and then, about 4 times a week perhaps.

Anti-anxiety meds, yes. But they're a long term thing, for about a year now I think.

I used to, and probably will in the future (in-between psychiatrists at the moment).

I would really benefit from anxiety meds, but I react badly to everything I've tried so far. Ativan gives me awful rebound anxiety, and Valium and Klonopin actually make me angry. :(

I had the same reaction to Ativan! Fun times! A+ for gross crying in a public bathroom.

I take melatonin sometimes. Which I found out one night can, in rare cases, cause hallucinations. That was... interesting.

I am on Zoloft. I think it saved my life.

Remeron for me, and it was Ambien before that.

OP here

Forgot to say, I take dozile for sleeping and antianxiety for, well, when I get so super anxious I start considering jumping under a truck to get away from heart-pounding fear of nothing. This is about once a week now.

I take Benadryl or sleep aids every night since my anti-depressants give me insomnia. (I also have Xanax, but hilariously, the thought of taking a medication given to me for anxiety makes me anxious.)

Sleeping pills, occasionally. I'm a shift worker and sometimes sleep just doesn't happen without pharmaceutical assistance.

...they were very nice though. I dunno about anyone else's reactions to them, but (apart from awesome sleep) they also made me euphoric and contented. Awesome. :D

I work a graveyard job, so I take melatonin 5 days a week.

That shit will make your dreams seem like an acid trip. Sometimes a good trip, sometime a really, really REALLY bad trip.

I've lost twenty pounds since taking it, though. And before that I was twenty pounds overweight. So. That's a sweet side effect.

Re: Sleeping pills

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Since I started taking it, rather. And before I hear anything about extreme weight loss over a short period of time, I've been taking melatonin for a little over 6 months now.

Another graveyarder here.

What does Melatonin do? Is it good for...aiding sleep?

Zoloft every night for my anxiety, Elavil for my IBS (fucking CHANGED MY LIFE). Clonopin for panic attacks, though I'm easing off it now.

I can't take sleeping pills because I fight them (one of my anxiety issues is a fear of forced unconsciousness). I do take both benadryl and melatonin every night, though.

I am on an anti-depressant that also works for anxiety as well as a supplemental anxiety med.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I take Risperidal, which is an atypical antipsychotic that is also used for anxiety.

I take Seroquel and Imovane (which has another name in the States and I don't know what it is) every night. Can't sleep without them.

Fun story about sleeping pills!

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
So! Back when I was super suicidal I used to collect sleeping pills. I had decided that they were my means to an end. The one time that I was really low and decided today was the day I didn't have any pills nor a way to get any, so after that I just picked up a box here and there *just in case*. I did this for several years. I had them all in a special box, probably well over a couple hundred little blue pills.

Long story short, I now cannot even consider taking sleeping pills because they still have the connotation of suicide in my mind. Sleeping pills are for dying, and it is so well ingrained in my mind that I can't even consider using them for something else.

I take citalopram and I fucking LOVE IT. It literally changed my life.

Just generic OTC's (diphenhydramine) maybe once a month or less, if I really need a good night's sleep and anticipate having problems.

Sleeping pills and anti-anxiety meds, among many others. Speaking of which, it's time for me to take them now.

Anti Anxiety Meds!

This doesn't happen to everyone, but buspirone has the happy side effect of putting me right to sleep, sometimes even if I'm quite manic (I take Lamotrigine for bipolar as well).

This wasn't great when I was taking it three times a day and it would make my body randomly try to pass out after I took it, especially in the mornings, but it's great now that I've just said 'fuck it, i'll only take it at night then."

I take anti-anxiety meds too. (Mine are daily.)

No sleeping pills but sometimes I will have difficulty sleeping and will try to take something. Right now I'm trying out ZzzQuil and it's not bad.

Oh god, me. I'm on klonopin now because I ended up in the hospital with a really severe panic attack (it felt like an honest-to-god heart attack, like, I put off going to the doctor for MONTHS because I was convinced it wasn't real pain, but I was feeling real pain). I don't take the full dose I'm supposed to because I read a little about it and I like to drink so I feel like I might kill myself if I take the whole dose and drink a beer (when in reality when I take it I can only handle one beer because that's all it takes to get drunk anyway). And I get anxiety symptoms from smoking weed ever since I've been on it, which is a major drag because that never happened before.
