F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

How old are you?
What series have you always meant to watch/read/play/etc. but have never?

Try not being obese. You'd be amazed what that does for the pretty and for people recognizing how funny/nerdy you are.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, because not being obese is just that easy

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who used to be obese? It's easier than you think.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
For some people yes, for some people no. Despite what media tries to tell us, not all fat people are fat just because they're lazy and eat too much. That's definitely a problem for a lot of people (including a lot of skinny people), but it's entirely possible to have healthy habits and still be fat. That's really hard for some people to believe, but it's true, and there have been scientific studies done to prove it.

If you already have healthy habits and you're still obese, what are you supposed to do? Starve yourself? Exercise a dangerous amount? Even if you don't have healthy habits and you change that, you still might not lose an amount of weight large enough to be "skinny". I lost 50 pounds. I'm still obese. I'm also healthier now then when I was eating worse and exercising less. But I'm still fat. And I'm probably not going to lose any more weight at a significant level unless I drastically reduce caloric intake or increase exercise more, and right now I'm at a level that's healthy. My habits are healthy, my blood work is healthy...why should I risk my health pushing past the healthy limits of diet and exercise just to be skinny?

Lets be honest, the amount of people who are obese 100% out of their control are very, VERY few. A lot of people have issues because of medications, or diseases, or injuries, or because of whatever else. But they still have some agency over it. Doesn't mean it's easy, but it kind of annoys me when people say there's this huge percent of the population that CAN'T do anything about it. It just creates this atmosphere of being content with not trying anymore. People should remain motivated, even if they don't get slimmer, because they're still getting healthier.

No one should be shamed for their bodies, and I think the media needs to start talking about HEALTH, not size. Showcase men and women who are very healthy and active, but in all types of bodies.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
How about 99%? Is 99% okay by your standards? What if it were 98% out of their control? 95%? Those lazy fuckers should overcome that majority of disability and just get on a treadmill, am I right?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Over sensitive much?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I just find it amusing (read: stupid) that anon I replied to thinks that fat people need to be 100% incapable of exercising in order to justifiably be obese. I mean, if they had their legs cut off, they could still do chin-ups, I guess...

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
If someone wants to be obese, who gives a shit. It's their choice. But if they want to lose weight and they're saying it's impossible, they're talking out of their ass most of the time. Having a slow metabolism, meds, or whatever else won't stop you. It's difficult but it's possible.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well you're really missing the point by miles.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a point in all that? All I saw was bootstraps.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's odd how bootstrappers is becoming a negative term. The people who actually fucking did it are the ones to be lauded, not you lazy fucks who never bothered to emulate your superiors.

Cry moar.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't have to. I'm in shape.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Round is a shape.

"No one should be shamed for their bodies, and I think the media needs to start talking about HEALTH, not size. Showcase men and women who are very healthy and active, but in all types of bodies."

And yet you just told someone right off to "try not being obese" without knowing whether that person is healthy and active or not. Huh.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Different anon, dude.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You had the surgery, huh?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You do understand that if it were "that easy," then no one would be obese, right? People generally don't choose to take the difficult path.

Jesus christ, I just can't even.

Look, fat people pretty much KNOW that scientifically, yes - eat less/move more is what "works." It would stand to reason, then, that if that equation was the only one determining a person's weight and health, we'd all be fucking supermodels. And yet, the obesity rate continues to increase yearly.

Yeah, please - go right ahead with your whole, "that's because fat people are too lazy/depressed/greedy/etc." speech, too.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuck you, you fucking bigot.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, go stuff your face fatass

Different anon

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, put a lid on it. I'm fat and I say the anon above is no such thing. An insensitive boor and a jackass, maybe, but that's not the same thing as bigotry.

Fat people are not some poor oppressed minority, we're just fat people. Grow the hell up, quit drinking the SJW kool-aid, take some goddamn responsibility and lose weight, or live with it.

Also, people who can't think of a better retort than 'Fuck off,' 'Fuck you' or 'Go fuck yourself' and who throw words like 'bigot' around at the drop of a hat are contemptible idiots.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Try going and fucking yourself. As someone whose weight problems are caused by medical issues, it's really offensive when people go "lol just lose 50 pounds it's not hard lol". Yeah, it IS hard for some of us.

OP: sight unseen, you're beautiful.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Try not being an asshole.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hi, hihartnfics, you've already brought your self-hatred to f!s once (that I've seen), and it was gross then too. Get some help. I understand you are disgusted with yourself for ever having been "one of those fatties", but generalizing from your experience just makes you a butthurt 13-year-old who misses cheeseburgers. Stop.
