F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Am I the only one who just doesn't like A:TLA and can't seem to get into it? Not just LoK, I mean the entire thing.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No show is universally liked

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
To varying degrees. Everyone I know loves it and looks at me like I killed a kitten when I admit I don't. Avatar just has this appeal I don't buy into.

No, I didn't like ATLA. I only liked about half of LoK and only watched it because Korra seemed intestesting.

But Atla? No fucks were given or ever given. It was booooring

So. Goddamn. Boring! It sucked!

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It did really. I mean, nice art and stuff, but the show itself about some kids running around saving the world? I found it boring.

But then, I was pretty bored on the day since I was stuck in bed for a week.

Nope.

While I didn't hate it, I also never got really invested in it.

It took me about six years to finally see it - not saying that if you rewatch it you'll enjoy it like I do now, but at first glance, yes, it does seem slow and boring. Nothing can grab everyone's attention.

It was just so... kiddish? I'm not above children's shows if they're funny or interesting or whatever, but this just had nothing to draw me in. Just a bald kid with a stupid arrow on his head.

Honestly, it took me about halfway through the first season to really start enjoying it. Once I fell in love with the characters, and found out more about the spirit world/the Avatar line, I was hooked. Season One is just tough to get through.

No, you're not alone. I watched about seven episodes before I quit because it was just too boring. I suspect I would have liked it when I was twelve, though.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
....no. (Though I must say, I don't see how)

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, A:TLA is essentially very much a children's cartoon show (no matter how some fans will try to prove otherwise), and definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Me! I tried to watch the first show when it was airing, but couldn't get into it. Re-watched a few episodes for a class on the sociology of death and dying (I was analyzing modern portrayals of mortality in children's media) and still didn't find the appeal. Basically, you're never alone in not liking (or just being indifferent toward) a piece of popular media. Nothing reaches everybody.
