F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

What series have you always meant to watch/read/play/etc. but have never?

Has anyone ever had to deal with LJ friends who you friended because you share a certain fandom and pairings in that fandom and you shared a whole lot of opinions. But then you get into a fandom and discover that not only do they have opposite views to you on this fandom, but they think the things you like/ship are so bad that the constantly have entries bashing them on your journal.

This has recently come up. On the one hand, we do have a bunch in common and love to discuss those fandoms. On the other hand, the bashing is getting annoying. And I'm actually starting to want to talk about this fandom on my own journal and because of my particular issues feel nervous posting about what I like on my own journal because they'll see it.

Talk about it but use filters?

If they find out just say that you know they don't like that pairing and didn't want to bother them about it.

This came up to me recently, too. I have a few friends who are into the same show I like and they HATE a lot of it, hate a writer and I'm like "... I just want to love this show..."

a) filterrs

b) if you don't share anything else (ie not friends IRL, no other common interests/fandoms and no deeper conversations than the fandomy stuff) then just defriend, honestly.

the world really is negative enough for all of us, you don't need downer rants about something you hold dear to your heart. fandom doesn't always have to be positive, but the negativity doesn't need to be accentuated any more than it is.

my rule of thumb: if you're spending more time agonising/being annoyed by an LJ friend than squeeing/enjoying their posts, just drop them.

I've had something similar happen. I felt so disappointed when I realized the person in question was one of those cliquey judgemental assholes who can't let go of trivial years-old arguments. It sucks.
