Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

I hate Mary Sue sporking sites.

First off, you can't decide if a character is goof or bad by checking off a litmus test. The entire idea of Mary Sue is flawed to the point that any character can be considered one if the reader dislikes them.

Second, it's just another form of bullying and gossip. If you have critique for a writer, get the guts to say so to their face. Yes, they may reply rudely, but then it's their problem. There are also a lot of people who will thank you, from my experience, if you use a positive attitude.

Heck, a positive/encouraging attitude while offering honest feedback towards creativity in fandom might help ward off the mass levels of self-hatred all the artists seem to have.

Honestly? When I was like, 13, and wrote a horrible character, yeah, I was. I later improved and even worked for a sporking site for a while. But after some time I realized just how cruel it was, and how many new writers - despite the rude ones here and there - were starving for feedback while we were laughing in our little corner.

So yeah. Was sporked, but not bitter about that. It just got me to notice the sites existed in the first place to hate them for different reasons later. Good try, though.

I personally just don't see why anyone bothers getting worked up over it, unless it was a bait and switch for a canon character. Some people love reading mary-sue stories(YES there are some, I have a friend I met on tumblr who read nothing but Mary-sue and Choose Your Own Adventure type crap, but whatever suits your fancy I guess) and some people love writing it. If you don't fall under either, it's really easy to avoid.

I guess it could be a hobby, though... err.

I used to love them, but I agree with you now.
