Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.
Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.
That's about it, though!
I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)You feel superior to me because I am actively against the hegemonic beauty norms in our society that declare me to be "ugly" and horrifying just because I'm fat?
You feel superior to me because I don't like that fat people are discriminated against when it comes to obtaining jobs and healthcare?
You feel superior to me because I want to be able to get a job, get taken seriously by my doctor (or anyone, really), not be consistently made to feel like dog-shit every ten seconds, NOT be discriminated against by everyone ever?
And you feel sorry for me because I'm fat?
I feel sorry for you because you're a self-important jerk. :|

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)For some mysterious reason my impression of the fat acceptance movement has been more about bad science and enabling poor habits rather than actual rights activism.
Re: Fat fans
(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)That's bullshit.
First off, the doctor thing? Wow, you know actually NOTHING about the issue, do you? The problem is that doctors are dismissing actual real health problems that have NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING FAT as being caused by fat. I know women who have SERIOUS health conditions who have almost DIED because their doctor refused to see them about the problem until they lost weight. I know women who have had been told their broken bones would magically mend themselves if they only lost weight. I know women whose sprained ankles, hurt wrists, broken fingers, flus, you name it, have been blamed on their being fat, and more often than not they've been told to come back when they've lost some weight, or "just lose weight and it'll go away," because you know, a broken limb will totes stop being broken if you lose ten pounds; your cancerous tumor will shrink away to nothing if you lose twenty. Doctors so often ONLY see fat and thus they see fat as the only reason for any possible ailment, no matter what it is. And that is wrong.
And fuck you for apparently thinking anyone should have to lose weight to receive proper medical care. Fuck you for thinking only the skinny deserve healthcare. Fuck you for thinking doctors should be exempt from caring for fat patients and taking them and their concerns seriously.
And fat acceptance movements have to do with STOPPING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FAT PEOPLE. Fat acceptance movements are about making it so it doesn't fucking MATTER how much you weigh or why you weigh that much, you're still a human fucking being deserving of human fucking respect. It's about breaking down the cultural and societal stereotypes that all fat people are unhealthy, unattractive, lazy, slobs, etc. It's about shutting up people who go on about how it's just so ~easy~ to lose weight because IT ISN'T. It's about having human rights and deserving respect just like thin people and not being treated like we're sub-human because we weigh more than you do.
Seriously, WHO GIVES A FUCK IF SOMEONE HAS POOR HABITS. Are you their doctor? Then what the FUCK does their weight matter to you? They're still a fucking human being! Stop acting like there is ANYTHING that makes it okay to treat fat people the way people do in society today, because there isn't. Ever. Period.
