Some ground rules:

totally nth-ing the abhorsen series and gunnerkrigg court. i'd also like to add:

girl genius
the circle of magic series
the tortall series
summers at castle auburn
homestuck (yes, john and karkat get a lot of screentime, but the girls are really important characters and there are some great fanworks built around them.)
saddle club (i remember liking both the books and the tv show)
flaky pastry

i think that's all i've got for the moment.
