It really depends on the show for me. If it's something that's been airing for a while and I picked it up because People I Trust recommended it, I'll give it at least 7-8 episodes (and tbh, I'm still freaked out by the fact that I almost gave up on The Wire). And I remember with Ringer really pushing myself to stick with it during the first third of the season because I knew it was going to pick up once they got the CW tone.
