F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Unpopular Ships
Obligatory Masturbation Thread
Fandoms you wish existed
How old are you?
What series have you always meant to watch/read/play/etc. but have never?
Time and location
Female-centric works
How do you feel about Tumblr?
Pet thread
Guilty pleasure thread
Favorite old shows
First fandom?

Yeah, I think the idea of romantic and sexual attractions conflicting/not lining up is actually really interesting, and if it'd been framed in that way, I think I would've enjoyed it. But it almost came off as "OMG slash is icky!!11!" in disguise, which was just bizarre. I wish I could find it and reread it to see if I still got that same vibe, but unfortunately, I remember no other details about the plot and although I'm about 95% sure of the fandom, I'm not even positive on that.

I mean, they could've been like "hey, we love each other, and we want to be together, but we're not sexually attracted to each other" and gotten their sexual needs met elsewhere, but I know not everyone is going to see something like that as even an option. Especially when I read this fic, which was about 6-7 years ago, I think. Not that it's really all that accepted now, but I think moreso than it was then.

There've been exactly two things I can think of that kind of touched on the idea of romantic attraction without sexual attraction, and both of them are no longer around. I wish that kind of thing was explored more in media, though, because I think it's a really interesting concept.

You get this (or something similar) sometimes in stories where one of the characters is asexual, such as in a threesome where two of the partners have sex and the third is also part of the relationship but uninterested in sex.

Yeah, I've seen things like that before (although there's pretty much zero in any of the fandoms I'm into). There are so many different possibilities and forms relationships can take, I wish more of them were explored more often!

Me too, I've mostly seen them in the Sherlock and Stargate Atlantis fandoms.
