Good old-fashioned hurt-comfort smarm. Crazy bromance between abiding friends, when suddenly one of them is kidnapped/injured/drugged/tortured/all of the above and the other is wracked with manpain trying to fix it. Sudden conversion in the final chapter to slash with shmoopy, romantic magical healing cock sex is preferred but completely optional. I will also accept it with a het pair as long as the "hurt" side of the hurt-comfort is the dude.

Self-insert fics where the author has at least been careful enough to make her semi-Sue fit the background and/or fill in some worldbuilding, e.g. a Lake-daughter or an Entwife in LotR.

BDSM smut!fic with a Draco-In-Leather-Pants-type in the bottoming/sub role. Bonus points if he's a semi-sympathetic villain and it's a redemption-fic.
