i see sexuality kind of like a grid and orientations are on the X axis, whereas the amount of sexual attraction you face is on the Y axis. everybody has a place on both of these, imo, which is why i think demisexuality is a thing but not necessarily an orientation.

That's a really interesting way to explain it, and I agree. Orientations are about gender, and amount of sexual attraction is a different scale. It's still important, but I wouldn't classify it as an orientation in itself.
