Some ground rules:

Six to four years *before* I'd even heard about fandom, I was made shipper by the X-files (and was introduced to UST), slasher by Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei, made my first OCs for McGyver, and PS.: I Love You, Acapulco HEAT and Ricky Martin of all things. I've got my standards for Het from Sailor Moon, Babylon 5 and X-files, and wrote a school assignment with Vengeance Unlimited firmly in mind.

When I finally did find fandom four to six years later it was Stargate: SG-1 and Highlander.

When I finally dared to write about a year later it was The Talented Mr Ripley, book- and movieverse.
