F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Pretty much. The only big issue I have is with the people who make judgements about the source material without having consumed it to any meaningful degree (like the "Classic companions were all whiny and weak" example above). Other than that, I'm basically like, "You have your thing; I'll have mine." That doesn't mean that I don't get frustrated and anxious about the fact that I'm seemingly the only person who wants my thing, though.

Those quick judgements are a symptom of the underlying problem of people in general wanting to appear smart whether they do the research or not (I would know, I'm kind of doing it right now D:).

Well, I'm pretty sure I've seen people commenting on having read or watched all the things you prefer (source material first) and liking them better, so they're definitely out there; they're just drowned out by all the people attracted over the new stuff. It seems that you will have to go out of your way to find them. :(

Yeah. And a certain subset of Classic fans are definitely partly to blame, too, since they'll insist that strictly New Who fans justify their lack of interest in the older stuff, which is jerky, but I still find the snap judgement of all my favourite characters based on one or two of the worst companions (Susan and Peri, usually) really frustrating.
