F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Unpopular Ships
Obligatory Masturbation Thread
Fandoms you wish existed
How old are you?
What series have you always meant to watch/read/play/etc. but have never?
Time and location
Female-centric works
How do you feel about Tumblr?
Pet thread
Guilty pleasure thread
Favorite old shows
First fandom?

Writer's Block

I had a pretty good track record of putting out fanfics before the summer hit, now I can't get words on a document for nothing.

What do you guys do to fight off Writer's Block?

maybe try joining writing prompt communities on LJ/DW/whatever site you deem fit?

or you could just sit and just write whatever nonsense comes to your mind to see if that jogs some creative juices.

i totally feel your pain, anon, cause i've got writer's block too.

Something that's been working for me lately is finding new music in a genre that I enjoy, trying out last.fm's "similar artist" recommendation is a good tool, as well as Spotify. I tend to latch on to certain songs and associate them with different characters or situations, so it may work for you as well. I've also been listening to commentary on some of my most favorite movies, and it's proving to provide inspiration for me as well. Good luck!

Write 500 words of anything.

Don't edit, don't worry about word usage, don't worry if it's for a story you're working on or something new, just pump out those 500 words.

Do this every day.

Try to separate the editing/proofreading/oh shit shit shit what if this sucks and no one will like it process from the writing if getting the words out is the problem.

Start small. Write anything with a word count you think you can do. Even if it's +/- 100 words, you're still writing and once you start, the momentum will take you further. It might be rough but when you edit, it'll improve.

If you have trouble coming up with ideas, go somewhere like [livejournal.com profile] commentfic and pick up a prompt for a starting point. When do #1- write however much you can.

That works for me every time I have trouble.
