I was around for Race Wank. And don't know if anyone remembers Barista Wank, which lead to Race Wank and Privelge Wank. That was a crazy time.

I also seem to remember an aside about how common it was for authors to turn Teyla and Ronan into pets in AUs but can't seem to find it. It might just be a thread buried in there somewhere.

I remember that. I think the primary story was Yin's fic where Ronon and Teyla were Rodney's cats.

Idk. The SG franchise seems more balanced than most shows in terms of portraying characters of color.

It was about a story where Ronon was a barista and some person went off on the writer because they thought the writer was casting Ronon as working class and the white chars as upper class or w/e. Anyway, the whole thing was stupid and crazy. If you read the fic that actually starts it, it makes it clear how stupid the wank BS was.

It was such a fun fic and the author is like the nicest sweetest person ever. I felt so bad for her during all that.

Well, do you know what racewank was? (IF I remember correctly, been a while, it was started by a white author talking about how to write the "other". Que shitstorm)

Basically paperclipchains was very abrasive, and told everyone "Shut up you're white, you've never had to deal with anything in your life, evarrrr". This lead to people jumping on her/him about their experiences. Especially people of jewish decent.
