(Anonymous) 2012-08-02 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)I will suggest this, though, especially because I've never seen it suggested anywhere else and I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this matter (even though I feel like I'm late to this meeting).
Why couldn't she have chosen both? Because it seems to me that not only would she have been perfectly happy to do so if she'd realized that option, but Gale and Peeta got by so well by the end of the third book that I don't think they would have minded either.
Does that make sense?
So, really, I am all for those three all together, or at least for Katniss to be able to bounce back and forth between them freely as part of her happily ever after (and having kids with both of them, if she so desires). It's really the ending that makes most sense to me.
