1. HOLY SHIT do I hear you. I'm a 28-year-old dude in a fandom populated with girls ten years my junior. I feel soooo creepy sometimes.

6. Normally I'd be right with you on this, but "yuuutsu" just looks silly, and most non-native Japanese speakers are going to be able to time the mora properly anyway. That said, weird romanization drives me nuts, and it's gotten so bad that there are titles who don't even romanize consistently within the title. Take, for example, the official, licensor-mandated title for a new show about a kid wizard in olden Japan: "Shonen Onmyouji." Try to guess why this drives me crazy.

Me, I just write 憂鬱 and be done with the whole mess.

Uh, and by "are going to be able to," I mean, of course, "are NOT going to be able to."

Clearly.

;p

...Shonen Onmyouji.

WTF. I don't even speak more than a couple dozen words in Japanese, and even I can see how mesed up that is.

Shonen Onmyoji? Okay. Shounen Onmyouji? Better. "Shônen Onmyôji"? My personal favorite style of romanization.

Shonen Onmyouji? FAIL.

Agreed. Perhaps even insta-fail.

"Shonen Onmyouji"

... oh wow, I can't believe I didn't notice that when I saw the US DVD cover.

That is beyond special.

SERIOUSLY. Once you get a good look at it, you're like "Wha..."?

Trying being 40 and male, dude. Thankfully, my flist is made up of very mature (not necessarily in age but emotionally/mentally) folks and they aren't too weirded out by my presence.

I bow to your superior potential -- but not actual -- creepiness.

[identity profile] toxictattoo.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to tell you, sometimes it does bug me. Not so much being creepy but being perceived as creepy because I'm older. I'm obviously just a perv or something. [sighs]

So I try to stick to my little corner of the internet and let the rest of the internet world revolve without me.
