A lot of people do, anon. But MCU isn't the 616. Main continuity Steve/Tony, my GOD there's enough subtext or, hell, just straight up TEXT) to back that up for years but MCU hasn't touched any of that. I can easily see why anyone who hasn't read the comics and is sticking strictly to the movie verse wouldn't see it and might be confused as to where it came from.

And yes, Steve/Tony has been the only ship to sail in Avengers fandom for so long it's ridiculous. Honestly, I'm glad there's more variety now than there was before the movies.

People will usually signify the comics universe with "comicsverse" or "616" (the designation of the main Marvel comics universe, which is one of many parallel universes to the real world, the DC universe, and pretty much all other Marvel continuities including the movieverse).
