True, because someone with familiarity of Korean is going to find Japanese grammar substantially less difficult to handle than the typical native English speaker. I'm not saying everyone has to find it difficult. But there's a large and key difference between saying "I find the basic Japanese grammar found in porn fics simple to understand" and saying "Japanese is simple." And that is where I take umbrage at the OP's claims.

Well no, most languages are difficult to learn. I understand getting mad at that part!

Though as someone who has taken a foreign language I wouldn't mind someone saying that they found one aspect to be simpler for them (b/c dang at all the things my classmates found difficult that I didn't and vice-versa).

Just a passerby note here:

Your lack of interpretation of OP's meaning in the secret, grabbing a connotation to put yourself in a pedestal and your silly butthurt behavior claiming your sacred japanese language cannot be simple enough to translate in a online translator tool for fanfic reading purposes is hilarious!

Congrats!

Happy to entertain!

I've got self-esteem coming out my butt, anon. It's not hurt, and I don't think Japanese is sacred. I just think it's dumb to call a language's grammar simple when it's not. It's a lie with which I shall not up put. Or something like that.

I'm glad the OP is reading in a different language. Or trying to. But I'm calling bullshit where I see it.

This thread could be so much better without you.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right!? Too bad. But, let's be honest. It takes two (or more) to play and some of you lovely anons stepped up and decided to argue with me. What I originally said was that while I'm happy for the OP I also don't like how they said it. The rest of you turned this into something. *srs nod*

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
No, what you originally did was act like an asshole for no reason, and people called you on it. Next time get over yourself.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Nope.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. Continue douching it up, then.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Douching is bad for you. I highly don't recommend it. If you're having a problem down there, I recommend you make an appointment with your OB/GYN specialist.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. This thread became an huge "all about grammar nazi's and show off" essays.

I still wanna try to use OP's idea. But sadly, I have a lack of patience.

What I did when I was learning Japanese was use a flashcard system (I used anki) to build up a LOT of vocabulary really fast, and cement that vocab by reading books for children (I was living in Japan at the time so I had easy access). If you're not in Japan, books in Japanese can be difficult to come by, but there are websites that have simplified newspaper articles and such that are meant for Japanese children. Anyway, the most important thing is to just build vocabulary (this includes kanji recognition), and the quicker you can do it, the less frustrated you'll feel. You just need to use it and use it a lot everyday.

Hope that helps, even a little! :)

Do you happen to have links to the simplified news sites, please? :)

Here's one that lists a bunch: http://jp.newsconc.com/japan/kids.html

Enjoy.

Thank you so much!

Nope, this thread became a huge you idiots are feeding the troll thing. Also, you misused the word essay there.

Also, Rikaichan/Rikaikun are really easy to use. If you don't have the patience to put your mouse over a word... I know, I know, I'm being an asshole again. Look, the only way to get better is to practice. I know it's daunting, but find the patience. Otherwise you're going to find yourself stuck.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-07 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I'm Korean, and recently started learning some basic Japanese. I have to say the grammar itself was a lot easier to grasp than English. Still, it's difficult to learn another language. I'm trying my best though :)
