I'd honestly rather read about someone like you being heroic- which doesn't just mean slaying dragons and rescuing princesses, not at all- than the smartest, strongest, coolest of people. And if fiction is lacking in heroes that you can relate to, you know what, that means we need some more.
I think heroism is about choice, OP. That's what determines how much of a hero you are. Not everyone HAS the choice to do something huge, based on location or skills or socioeconomic status or whatever. But they can still make heroic choices, and those choices are just as brave and badass for them as slaying dragons is for someone who's in a position to do that.
And if you're sad about this, it means that you want to be an action hero, which means that you do have some kind of sense of adventure. You might think you're a coward, OP, but you might surprise yourself someday. But most of all, I think you need to accept yourself. It's okay to be you. You don't have to have some cool badass action hero personality to be a good person or to have adventures. Idk, this comment is probably majorly unhelpful but this secret really struck a chord with me.
