Re: Misogynistic language
And while using a word for female genitalia is kind of offensive no matter which way you cut it... idk. I watched a pretty awesome documentary on the subject a while back in which it was argued that the reason men find it so offensive is not because it means 'female genitalia' but because it's an aggressive-sounding word meaning 'female genitalia'. It's not like 'pussy'. 'Cunt' is definitely an active word (I really like the theory that it comes from the verb 'to create', as unlikely as that is), and it's a powerful word, and in that sense I find it kind of empowering, even when used as an insult.
But yeah when it comes to stuff like 'cunt' and also 'twat' if you dare to suggest that they are used differently and less offensively in the UK you get jumped on for pretending that Britain is a magical sexism-free utopia. Um, no. We have plenty of issues of our own, they're just different issues.
/my two cents
Re: Misogynistic language
While I'm not 100% into any of the words we use for female genitalia, I'm glad that we've got some variety between aggressive-sounding and not, active or passive. It makes porn-writing easier.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-08 02:11 am (UTC)(link)Goddamn you SJWs are stupid. No shit people use it against other people they dislike, that's kind of the whole point of an insult.
