Italy from Hetalia is probably one of the biggest cowards I've ever seen, (like, even beating out Chuckie Finster. Where Chucky/ie (?) would say "Maybe this isn't such a good idea" and go along with it anyway, Italy is already miles away, in the other direction!) but he's still the 'hero' in that series and has his moments. (and I'm mostly talking about the webcomic and published anime, not the anime)

Ironically enough the "hero" type character in that series is more of a supporting character than anything.

Also there's Shinji from Evangelion, another cowardly hero actually gets the job done. Especially in the new movies that're coming out, he has bursts of manliness! Not enough to be out of character but enough that it left me feeling impressed.

Still, I'm sure you're the hero in your own life story, if not now then someday ; u ; *hugs*
