I could probably count the number of times I've shipped an x-over pairing on one hand. IDK, but they just don't tend to interest me.

But good luck finding fic that suits your interests! Is there an SGU kink meme? Or maybe an active LJ comm? If you're brave, you could even check tumblr.

I'm not in the fandom myself but if you haven't already tried those things (and you probably have), you might aught to.

I've found that often in fandom to get what you want you have to write it first.

The crossovers might prompt a new audience to check out the show and then write fic for it.

Or you could write it yourself. That guarantees that it'll be suited to your tastes.

Love fanfic. Like Robert Carlyle, just enjoy his work. Actively love Rush from SGU and Rumple from OUAT.

That said:

There is a particular fic writer who feels that EVERY Carlyle Character must have Belle in their life. Wrote a whole OUAT cycle, is writing an SGU cycle, and now has begun a cycle for the movie The Tournament...

I would prefer a Mary Sue to Belle. :( I really don't get the appeal of the character.

I like Belle fine, but I do think it is pretty much one writer. I don't particularly look for Rumple/Belle fic, but when I do look for OUAT fic I have seen the Belle/Rush stuff mainly from one person, I think.

I'm guessing it's the latter. The author the anon is referring to is the main BNF in the Rumbelle fandom - I don't read her crossovers, but just from her OUaT fic, I can't imagine anyone complaining about her Belle characterizations.

The SGU characters weren't that interesting, I can see why people would prefer this pairing. Or are they misplaced Rumpy fic?

Actually there are 6 separate authors on AO3... didn't check ffnet but this pairing is getting more widespread. I don't understand the attraction toward Belle as a character (a statement likely to get me singed)which I've said before.

It doesn't appear to be self-insertion. Author's comments on one ffn story were that every Carlyle character needed their own Belle. O_o

Sadly, SGU coulda been a contendah...if they'd stopped the multiple AUs and produced a character that was in the process of evolving/growing/becoming. Too confusing for non-nerds, imho.

Actually I liked one of the authors from another fandom they wrote for a couple of years past and I follow her, so I know she posts it.
Just because I don't admire the ship doesn't mean I can't like the writer's work. Or does that mean I'm doing it wrong? :)

I ended up liking Chloe Armstrong for that reason. She seemed to be the only one really changing.

This sounds nutty, but while watching the show I secretly thought that Rush was in love with the ship. I even wrote this really weird fanfic about it, but I never posted it because it felt over the top :P But still. Even though he had his thing with Amanda, I think later some of it was spurred on by the fact that she was part of Destiny.

This sounds like something I should make a fandomsecret for... Um. Oh well. Too late ^^

THIS THIS THIS. You're not alone, OP. I got so fed up of Rush/Belle clogging up the SGU section on AO3, I used a Greasemonkey script to killfile the authors. Everytime someone posts one, I add them to it.

I wish there was a better way to filter out crossovers over there.
