See, I don't ship them in a conventional way though, I ship them like. . .

Well, how canon ships them. Sherlock is intrigued and aroused by Jim's intellect but also hates himself for that because Jim is a threat to his loved ones and Jim is utterly obsessed with Sherlock and hates that Sherlock's loved ones are totally in the way and are making him ~good~ and guh the twisted relationship and the ANGST and possible non-con. I'm not so much "They're in a conventional relationship and betraying John" so much as 'they're pining and hate themselves for it/ Jim's finally had enough of Sherlock's shit & is fucking with him'

This wonderful/horrible dynamic just DOES things to me.

I swing both ways here baby! But I just feel like John is standing in a corner demanding to know why I'm encouraging them. So mostly I just like daydreaming about what a sick mess Jim is over Sherlock because inner!John doesn't seem to care about that.

I'm always drawn to the most horribly wonderful dynamics.

Ugh I know I get John guilt too. Because John and Sherlock are ALSO meant to be but their dynamic is so drastically different. Jim and Sherlock are like the same person almost and they flit at and flirt with each other like um. . .

OH LIKE THIS PHOTO. You'll like it because it involves math. It sums up exactly why I love their dynamic in the most beautiful of ways.

http://biohazardgirl.tumblr.com/post/28566912988/mathematicians-call-them-twin-primes-pairs-of

Guh this description does things to me. But they can't ever touch for too long. Both are too volatile and terrified of themselves that being around another person that's the same is both thrilling and attracting and terrifying.

But then John is complimentary to Sherlock. He slots into the gaps in Sherlock's personality and life. They can touch because they were meant to, they were supposed to, and it shouldn't work but it does because they fill up each other's gaps. They're not scared of each other, they're just home.

/rambles about all of my Sherlock feelings.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Sherlock fandom has math feels! *squeezes tightly*

I've always thought Jim and John are like two substances who react to the same stimuli (Sherlock)in two completely different, but similarly fascinating, ways. Though it's not like anyone would have a neutral reaction to Sherlock, they just have my favorite reactions?

/ramble at me anytime! You make infinitely more sense than I do.

[personal profile] biohazardgirl 2012-08-08 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yes :D That's part of the reason why I love the Sherlock fandom; it likes to express itself through science and math.

I always feel like I don't make any sense at all when I'm trying to explain myself, so it's, uh, good to know that I'm wrong!

Guh Jim and John and Sherlock just thinking about all of their twisted dynamics makes me happy inside. Everyone on BBC Sherlock is so utterly fucked up. I love it!

Exactly! She has something against him, not only because he's an asshole, but there's something else there too. I love fic where it's because he actually fucked up a part of her life by accident.

I posted two identical comments and you replied to the one I deleted. Oops.

IDK if you ever watched Dexter (the one about the serial killer)? But I was fascinated by Sgt. Doakes who always had such an intense instinctual hatred for Dexter. Show and fanon suggesting that it took a killer to sense a killer? It was a fascinating dynamic and one that I so greedily wish the show and fandom had explored just a tiny bit more.

I haven't watched the show, but I read the first book. Yeah, I found that interesting too. Dexter is neat stuff, but I was a bit turned off by the deus ex machina at the end of the first book and the tv series had SO MANY EPISODES (I commented earlier in the general thread that if it looks daunting and I have no one to watch it with I usually don't watch it), so I've never seen the show. It really does sound fascinating though. I've heard Dexter be compared to Sherlock, actually, and I see it from what I've read and what I've watched.

In an aside, I find it funny when Sherlock and Dexter are compared because the guy who played Dexter is going to be playing Sherlock Holmes in Elementary soon and now everyone hates him even though the characters are very, very, very similar.

I never took to the books. They're pretty different from the series as far as I could tell. I think I stopped watching Dexter around season 5 so I can't vouch for the later seasons but my mother and I watched two seasons one episode right after the other with just a couple of breaks between the credits to OMGBABBLEWILDLY!

Also I thought Johnny Lee Miller was playing Elementary not Michael C. Hall?

Whoa, my bad, I totally thought Johnny Lee Miller played Dexter. Don't know why I thought that.

Maybe I'll watch it in the next two weeks. I have two weeks where I have nothing to do except sit in my apartment and wait for school, so. . .

I heard that later seasons of Dexter definitely got weird though.

Damn it now I want to watch it again but I had someone steal my box sets. :( I'll have to see if the video store here has a copy.

I heard the same thing but haven't seen for myself as I lost the same GOTTAKNOWWHATHAPPENSNEXT urge. I plan on finishing it up someday just... not today.

*cough* I'm a terrible person, I was just going to try and find it from my, er, special (re:illegal) streaming site.

I also have netflix so I'll check that first. Also I'll have a car and money soon so I'll probably attempt to procure it legally first, actually.

*gasp* You damn, dirty pirate! My shitty laptop keeps me honest by not allowing me to steal by blue screening or freezing in protest.

The wireless internet at school is so good that streaming is effortless it feels almost like a crime to not take advantage of it I am a terrible person for pirating material.

Really, you're just doing a community service by ensuring that connection doesn't go to waste!

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! I remember having all these feels that Sgt. Sally Donovan who seems to fancy herself as normal really reveals how fucked up she herself is with her bullying of Sherlock.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-08 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
>Donovan
>bullying

not this shit again

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, go away and we won't talk about it.

And I'm not saying Sherlock is a poor woobie who felt threatened by it, clearly he found it mildly amusing at times and didn't care at others, but outside of his reaction she was still pretty unprofessional and needlessly antagonistic.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-08 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Unprofessional and antagonistic, yes. A bully, no. Glad we're clear.

I was viciously bullied all throughout school and it pisses me the fuck off when people use that word to incorrectly describe Donovan's behavior. Or anyone's behavior tbh. Sorry for snapping at you, headspace issues.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. Bully may have been a little bit of hyperbole on my part I just can't really think of a word that fit the ugly way she went after Sherlock for such an undetermined purpose.

[personal profile] biohazardgirl 2012-08-08 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I was bullied all throughout childhood and I find bully to be a very accurate word. I'm not saying Sherlock is a woobie, but they're both bullies in that situation.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, lately I've been in such an upheaval about commonly understood emotional connotations to words. I can be pretty bad at that kind of thing. IDEK anymore.
biohazardgirl: (Default)

[personal profile] biohazardgirl 2012-08-08 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
:P I think bully maybe means different things to different people? I don't know. I think bully is an accurate term for both Donovan and Sherlock for what they do to each other, but YMMV.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-08-08 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I think I got the impression that anon meant bullying meant one person picking on another who was disturbed by it and didn't defend themselves. But I have no idea. My policy is just to apologize and make a note because often there's an culturally understood implication the dictionary didn't cover and I wasn't exposed to.
