This! I actually had a pity boyfriend (he wanted to date my sister but ended up with me). And you know what? That's fine. It was high school, that was a long time ago. I'm in a great relationship now and very happy with my self-image. I wouldn't go so far as to say I was an ugly duckling (sounds too conceited) but I grew comfortable with myself and formed my own version of what I'm happy with. :)
