1. Argh. Not my fandom, but I still know what you mean--it sucks when that happens--even if the whole fandom has a relatively believable collective take on the characters.

6. *salutes*

13. I've never had that problem in *fandom* before, but. . .yeah. (Last time I went to a Gauguin exhibit, it was seriously difficult to appreciate anything about the paintings over the chorus of 'YOU SEXIST RACIST (pedo) SOB' in the back of my head. Of course, in that case there really was no separating the assholish views of the painter from the paintings themselves (all those paintings of his abandoned 12 year old mistress. . .GAH).)

Were you thinking of a specific series/book/show/something for this secret?

14. I dunno. Ukitake isn't a *completely* practical person, after all--he's one of the more ethical/conscientious people in Soul Society, which is in itself not practical. And add to that the hanging out with his hippy friend Shunsui and all the Sticking It To The Man (or Yamamoto, at least) in the SS arc. . .oh, I couldn't call him completely practical at all. ^^ (And I kinda like the over-the-top 'bishie' long hair taken together with Ukitake's 50's sitcom dad act, as well. It's funny. :3)

18. AVATAR *_* <3<3<3<3 *obligatory fangirl squeal about third season preview ^^*
