Holy shitballs Poppy Z. Brite had a sex change?! I had no idea! I stopped paying attention when he started writing those foodie novels.

The story of how shahrizai was officially traumatized at the tender age of thirteen: I learned about Brite through yaoi fangirl channels and just mass ordered a bunch of her books without really looking at the descriptions. The day the shipment came in I decided to tackle the shortest one: Exquisite Corpse.

Needless to say, Jacqueline Carey and Anne Bishop didn't really disturb me when I got to them three years later.
