Some of the books I love were written by awful people. If you like The One and Future King or Brideshead Revisited, it's best to stay away from their authors. Based on Waugh's letters, I think he would have been an entertaining trainwreck of a blogger, bitchy and self-pitying.

Lost Souls is still one of my favorite vampire books. I really, really, really hope the author's financial problems don't lead to a sequel.
