Unfortunately, some of his books are kind of problematic in their treatment of trans people (and queer people, actually). Finding out he's trans himself made me wonder if he wasn't maybe working through some pretty heavy issues using his writing as a medium, which would explain but not really erase the wanting to chuck the book at a wall factor.

That's exactly what I thought the moment that I read the secret. I devoured all of his books back when I was a teen and the problematic issues were what made me quit reading his work. I stumbled on a comment he made in an interview that he didn't write many female characters because he did not find women interesting in general. Wth, man?
