Well, yeah.

'Furry' is more accurately compared to 'anime' than things like pedophilia or bestiality. It's a _fandom_ not a _fetish_.

Some people take it too far, but hey, anime does the same thing.

How is furry a fandom? Furry in it's name defines sexualizing human/animal hybrid things. If you are talking about like... cat ears or something that is completely different. But the term furry denotes a lifestyle of seeing yourself as having an animal persona and finding a mate or shit shit for that "fursona"

Furry in it's name defines sexualizing human/animal hybrid things.

Not really. The sexual fetish side of it is only a section of the fandom (and it is a fandom, that has many subsections but does have its BNFs and gatherings, communities and such), but in general it's all just about anthropomorphizing animals.

It seems to be so sexual because that subsection of the fandom is very, very vocal about it, and there is this unfortunate tendency of embracing any and all kinks and broadcasting their acceptance of anyone (unless drama erupts, which is even louder).

If those parts of the fandom were a little more... discreet, I guess is the word, all of the fandom wouldn't have this reputation.
