(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)The only reason he did at the beginning [before hetalia got big] was because a lot of fans felt really self-conscious/uncomfortable about the idea of buying doujin/other products [mainly doujin, iirc] with the names of countries on them. He wasn't exactly thrilled by the idea of giving *any* of them human names. So, it was actually pretty cool of him to do it at all [which goes back to the fact Himaruya is huge on listening to his fans], but since the series exploded there's just no reason for him to keep doing it.
tl;dr: Nope, not really.
