There is a lot of fluffy PG rated BL out there. Also, most male characters in BL are bisexual. I don't think it is above criticisms from queer men or really anyone, but saying it's all porn is pretty incorrect. There can be problematic things about it without it all being smutty.

But as it was pointed out above Sansa would only have the option of marrying Tyrion or Lancel. Either way Sansa was fucked and yes Tyrion did take advantage of that to get himself a lordship. There was no way Tywin was gonna allow Sansa to marry Willas or anyone else BUT a Lannister. So yes Tyrion could have refused but the only good it would have done Sansa is she would be married to someone closer to her in age, someone who, as you pointed out, stood by while she was beaten. Tyrion was the very one who stopped the beating and Sansa even said he had been kind to her.

You bolded the sentence in that paragraph about Winterfell but seemed to miss everything else said in it. He wants to comfort her through her sorrows and make her happy. Yea you could say he might not have the right to, since his family is the cause of her own family's death, but its certainly not like all he cared about was getting a lordship. Maybe at the beginning but further on he wanted them to have a happy marriage and for her to be happy with him.

Tyrion couldn't have known that he would have to rape her to get her with child. He didn't want to rape her, which is why he told her he would not touch her until she wanted him to. He was hoping that eventually she would want him as much as he wanted her. (And I haven't gotten to the book where he does perform rape so I'm judging him by where he's at in the third - it's disappointing to hear he sinks that low)

I can't recall what he did in his Handship to stop her from going home. Was it the trade her for Jaime?

I just started to read it, and yeah, it's a bit too meta.

And I'm not surprised to find out that it's inspired by HP and the Methods of Rationality, but thankfully, it's nowhere near as tedious as that self-insert crapfast.

Moral event horizon is from tvtropes

It'll be pretty interesting to see what the show does with his character. His relationship with Shae in the show is more loving than in the book, and Shae is a bit of a better person with more of a history (like in the book when Tyrion finally awakens from nearly getting killed in the battle with Stannis the first thing Shae does is ask about her dresses and her jewels and when she'll be able to wear them again or something. I couldn't fucking stand Shae after that).

In the show Tyrion may not go as dark as he had in the book, especially since he is such a popular character.

No problem! I've been dealing with this kind of thing for a year now, due to my postgrad thesis and it was just too perfect NOT to link 8D

You're not alone, because I thought the same thing!

I think we are totally ready for a Batman Beyond movie.

We have the technology. The future....and BATMAN.

(Part of me was really sad that he wasn't Terry either. But I heard Bale said he wouldn't do the films if there was a Robin.)

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
A Batman Beyond movie would be the most epic amazing thing ever.

(Actually, I want a Static Shock movie too....but that might be too much for me to ask for.)

Heh, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your lulzy secret just struck me the right (wrong?) way, I guess.

"And unlike Theon, he never actually killed a child (not that he didn't try) and unlike Tyrion he never hurt a defenseless woman."

So just because he got lucky in not having killed Bran erases his very clear intent?

Ok.

Right after the incident, he made posts on his (private) Facebook about Rihanna's "true colors". In various interviews (Larry King, etc.), he made comments implying that Rihanna started everything and that she was equally responsible for what happened.

yum! I could get down with some Benedict and Peter!

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like you misread that.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I WILL FOREVER LOBBY FOR A STATIC SHOCK MOVIE

I wish it were more popular though :(

The cartoon was great, but most people I know don't even realize it's based on an actual comic series...

and imagining a Static Shock movie without Dwayne McDuffie around to work on it makes me sad

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

Yeah, one of my favourite examples of what fanfiction can do. It sort of makes me wish she'd file off the serial numbers and publish it.

ayrt

I feel your pain.

It's... not quite like that:

http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-ways-you-dont-realize-movies-are-controlling-your-brain/

They're talking about movies, so the visual stick more than books, but I think they explain the way media works with your brain very well in general.

So this was all I found, not sure what happened to the others. I guess "doodles" was overstating it a bit.

I'm only a few chapters in, but I like it a lot. Sure, occasionally, the agenda gets a bit too obvious, but I like that Bella is active, I'm happy that Alice approached her first, not Edward (I liked the way the van-incident was handled) and I'm glad that Bella doesn't take Edward's "broddy, mysterious dude" bullshit.

God, it's almost strange to call her Bella because she's so unlike Bella.

I still get teary eyed when I think of McDuffie's passing.

The comic and the show are waaaaay amazing and were pretty progressive. I mean, especially the show, too. I mean, we can have a superhero kicking butt and talk about about actual issues that kids have today?

Yes please.

I have calluses on my fingers - it's not so much self-harm as that I used to bite my nails bloody, then moved to my fingers. My point was to switch to something that is not immediately dangerous (and get help after the dangerous situation was defused).

[personal profile] celestialchild 2012-08-12 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
This was my thought. Especially because for many female fans and fans of color (minorities, in general really), when they find something they like, they cling very hard to it, as it seems to mean a lot to them. And they are all the more [understandably] disappointed when it doesn't live up to their hopes (as Korra was something of an example).

At least, this is what I have observed in myself, and some others.
