I've never seen Degrassi so i just assumed when reading this secret that this Rick character must be a latent homosexual who was angry and violent especially towards women because he couldn't accept that he is gay.

To me Chris Brown clearly does not like women at all ... He dates and talks about sex only to impress other guys and is a latent, self hating misogynistic homosexual asshole.

Your comparison is kind of faulty. Rick at least tried to make himself into a better person (I think? I haven't seen that series of episodes in a while) while Chris Brown continues to be an asshole. Also, I don't think anyone except for maybe Toby even kind of sort of liked Rick while Chris Brown, unfortunately, will always have legions of his "team breezy" people ready to defend and praise him so I'm sure your concern is unnecessary

Difference is Rick tried to change his ways but was pushed by the others until he snapped whereas Chris Brown is an unrepentant douchebag.

And not to make what he did to Terri ok but there's a difference between accidentally pushing someone onto a rock and repeatedly beating on a woman and biting her and telling her that you're going to kill her.

Rick had been abusive and controlling towards her previous to the whole head trauma thing

I didn't totally hate him but I remember yelling at the screen "just fucking transfer, you moron! Of fucking course no one likes you!"

I think his mom even begged him to transfer schools (I mean, I know why he didn't of course. They needed him to shoot up the school)

Yeah, abusing Terri definitely wasn't right, but I didn't think the bullying campaign was right either. I'm not saying they should have liked him, but I think ignoring him would have made the point just as well, and he wouldn't have showed up at school with a gun.

Yeah I was always kind of annoyed with the writers in how they characterized and handled that whole story line. I felt bad for Rick, for Terri, for everyone in that school. There was no happy in any of that.

Honestly, I think they're two different cases.

Rick truly tried to make amends (even if he went about it wrong, trying to get Terri's friends to like him). CB only went to counseling because he was sentenced to it and only said he was sorry because he was "supposed" to in order to get his career back. The worst CB ever got was blacklisted for about six months, and he still had tons of support. He certainly wasn't set up to be humiliated on tv. Rick had an organized bullying campaign against him that involved the entire school (minus a handful of people) hitting and shoving, destroying his personal belongings, etc. Plus, he never tried to act like what he did was no big deal, and he certainly never insinuated that Terri was at fault for what happened to her. I think Rick already had psychological issues and the paint and feathers thing pushed him over the edge.
