As someone in mostly male-dominated fandoms: just wait. Hahahah, oh just wait. They haven't found something to fight about yet. But when they do...

...They will. Never. Let. Go. Oh, look on the Fallout fandom, and the FF fandom, and the ME fandom, ye fen, and despair.

Most anybody else hang out in male dominated fandoms? What's the stupidest wanky argument you've ever seen? For me it's got to be F.E.A.R., for sure. Massive, sprawling edit war on the wiki complete with catty insults and furious locking-unlocking over whether or not Stokes' hair is dirty blonde or golden brown.

Oh god no, not the Mass Effect fandom. D: I can't remember my foray into that fandom without thinking of the asshole guys who kept whingeing about how sick/sad/etc. it was that there were canon gay options for Shep and that girls dared to ship, play, and you know, exist in the fandom at all. So fucking nasty.

I've never gone into Fallout fandom because I know better, lawl. I know guys IRL who are into that fandom and as much as I love the games, I don't want to deal with the dudes who make it all about pissing contests and why aren't you macho enough and talking about how awful girls and girls in fandom are (not unlike this secret, ugh).

Sports anime/manga fandoms can be really awful, too. I see a lot of bullshit from male fans of Kuroko no Basket crying about how girls are "ruining their fandom" by, y'know, shipping and caring about the characters and not just the sport and so on. Uuuugh.

Japanese girl group fandom, particularly for AKB48, can be pretty gross, though usually more creepy than wanky. They still love their pointless arguments, though. I sometimes frequent an AKB48 forum, and members could be pretty wanky if you didn't like their favorite girl, and they love to harp on and on about how AKB48 is too mainstream now (like wtf they are major label idols run by the dude who did Onyanko Club what did you expect) or how awful management. The worst is when a girl breaks the dating ban. Then, the wankgates are opened, an exact repeat of whatever happened the last time a girl broke the rule occurs, and after a month everyone realizes that this is pointless anyways and goes back to watching silly AKB48 videos on YouTube. Or wanking about something else.

I swear every male-dominated fandom I frequent are OBSESSED with keeping everything straight/"NO HOMO". I enjoy fandoms that don't focus on shipping, but apparently discussing a character's sexuality (even in passing) is a big no no if it's anything other than straight.

I swear this is Transformers fandom in a nutshell. It is practically ruled by arguments that people never let go, and are inevitably all variations on how every new series has somehow RUINED FOREVER the fandom.

And man do the male-dominated parts of it get butthurt over the mere existence of fangirls and shipping.

Oh gosh the Mass Effect fandom. There is a reason I never use my BSN account and mostly stick over here. However, sometimes I go over to the wiki and switch to the talk page. Man, the snide, passive-aggressive, and snobbish stuff to see there is popcorn worthy.

Everyone at that wiki may be experts on Mass Effect but they still all act like prissy bitches.

Ugh god any forum for WoW is an absolute nightmare. And that's not even getting into the sections for RP and exploring the canon storyline. That game's playerbase is the sole reason I never join gaming fandoms anymore.
