YAAAAAY! Farscape secret!



I loooooooooooooooove Pilot. Pilot is awesome. Rygel is awesome too. They are puppets and puppets are awesome. Farscape is awesome.

My favorite character is Stark. Idek why.

But, seriously. I've rewatched this show three times in the last three years (so, like, once a year). It's a great show that ended too soon.

I just watched it last summer. I kept putting it off because I thought "Too out there, I'll never really like it." But I did and after just a couple episodes I was hooked. I haven't had a chance to do a second rewatch and I want to, I really want to.

What I love was its willingness to take risks with its characters. Sometimes the episodes didn't work, and I was left going "WTF?" but when they worked, they really, really worked and I was blown away.

I wish more television shows were like that. Willing to throw it all out there. I liked BB and CB from Stargate, but after watching Farscape, I realize they were both heavily underutilized. And it makes me even sadder that SG-1 only had 10 seasons and that Farscape was as short as it was.

I watched the whole series 3 years ago and still randomly cry out "But I just love Farscape SO MUCH" whenever something reminds me of it OP, despite never really being in the fandom or going through a re-watch.

It's so hard to find television with the great dialogue and the spirit of science fiction and the epic willingness to take risks that show had.

But no one I know seems to feel the same way :(

lol, I felt the same way anon and I only got into the show maybe...two years ago? It's now one of my favorites and I adore almost all of the characters. (Though Aeryn + Chiana are my personal favorites)

OH MY GOD. OH. MY. GOD.

OKAY LOOK. This show was my life. I mean, it didn't start out that way, no. I started watching it because I read an article about it and I was like, "the pilot of the ship is named Pilot? That's awesome!" (So I actually totally share your appreciation for Pilot, because if Pilot were not named Pilot, I might not have been intrigued enough to check out the show).

But after that, I was hooked. And man! When SciFi scrapped the 5th season? Felt like someone ripped my heart out. I screamed during the end of the series finale. I literally screamed. And I was still living with my folks back then. My father was away at the time, but my mother woke up and was like, "WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!" So then, flash forward. I was a sophomore in college, and Peacekeeper Wars aired, and it was like air to a drowning man. I cried during it, oh yes, but I loved every second and clung to it. Instant messaged this dude while I watched it because he was a Scaper himself (but his friends who lived on the floor above me were like, "that's so unrealistic." THE FUCKERS).

And now? Well, bitches, I spent $100 to buy the whole series. It's there, in my entertainment center, and I cherish it. It's a prize, man. I love it still, and I will love it always.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF THIS? I don't know. I guess I just wanted to share my undying love. But OP, look: you may be late to the party, and you may have missed the excitement of experiencing it while it was unfolding, but fuck me if I'm not glad you're enjoying it, because it's a great show and it deserves any and all attention it gets.

Good Lord, miss this show like BURNING. Keep meaning to do a massive rematch but just haven't had the time.

Pilot and Aeryn were always my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE characters ever.

I don't think I'm capable of ever loving another show as much as I do Farscape. I know it doesn't work for a lot of people, but it's like someone made a show just for me and filled it with all the awesome things in the entire universe, and it's hard to imagine anything quite so unique in its particular way not only being brought into existence but surviving for 88 episodes and a miniseries ever again.

BTW, you love Pilot and Rygel because they're infinitely better conceived and realized characters than you can find on the vast majority of television. Score one for the puppets.

As to why you've only watched now? I don't know, but consider yourself lucky. I certainly wish I could could give myself a mindwipe and experience it all for the first time now.

i got into the show last year and then right after i finished it promptly nagged a friend into watching it with me while i rewatched it and he loved it too <3 i'd be mad at myself for not watching it earlier but i was 8 when it started airing so i guess i have an excuse, lol.
